Performance Review Examples

A performance review or performance appraisal is an analysis of an employee's overall performance at a predetermined point in time.

Performance reviews are an opportunity for a manager (giving positive feedback) and an employee to meet and discuss the employee's (receiving positive feedback) job performance, their goals and organisational priorities. Usually the employee completes a self assessment for the purpose of comparing to the manager's assessment of the employee. These reviews are a good starting point for creating a company culture that nurtures professional growth.

Depending on the organisation, a performance review is made up of varying criteria and competencies. These competencies will differ according to department, job title and employee role. There are usually factors to determine how the individual in question has performed, such as off track, to be improved, keep working, about average, impressive, superstar, etc. These factors are then weighted according to how well the person performed (1 = off track, 5 = superstar).
