What is Performance Appraisal?

A Performance Appraisal is an evaluation process that results in an overview of employee performance and development.

Performance Appraisals are typically used to review an employee's or manager's performance at the end of the year. The Appraisal can cover both specific skills, behaviors of company values as well as a general assessment of specific strengths, weaknesses and learning opportunities.

This helps organizations identify the performance health of individuals, teams and the company as whole.

Accenture, Deloitte, Adobe and Gap dump the Annual Performance Appraisal

Lately there was a big move away from the annual performance review beginning to reach Forbes 500 companies around the globe.

People want to know on an ongoing basis, am I doing right? Am I moving in the right direction? Do you think I’m progressing? Nobody’s going to wait for an annual cycle to get that feedback. Now it’s all about instant performance management.
